Never Alone

Hello Everyone!

Joke Time

Why is God a no- brainer?

Because he has no brain.

Thank-you for being with me each week!  I appreciate your time. This is the last lesson of the season.

For the summer, keep living your life with God.  Ask Jesus to be with each individual person on your road and in your family. Read your bible.  Make posters of bible verses that help you.  There are DVD’s and books in the church library that you can borrow. Use the Right Now Media app.

Most of all keep living with God, he will never leave you.

Storytime: Bobson & Isolation

Bobson looked over at his class room, he knew he would be alone at lunch.  He longed for a good friend, but no one ever invited him to hang out.

Grandma helped him see that the kids were mistaken for rejecting him, and he understood that they had wrong thinking, still it wasn’t particularly fun.

After mowing Grandma’s lawn with her electric mower, the cord trailing behind like a snake, he went over to the garden to pull quack grass.  Grandma was there coaxing out the long roots.

The neat thing about Grandma was that she was safe.  Bobson could tell her anything, and she never got angry or riled up.  It was like she was just as happy to listen to Bobson’s problems, as she was to host a strawberry tea party.

“Grandma, I am tired of having people ignore me, they walk right past me, they don’t look at me.”

Grandma victoriously pulled out a 3 foot root and tossed it in her wheel barrow.  “Bobson, tell me more.”

“Well, I want friends, and a lot of the kids are nice, but they follow the pack, so even if one of them wanted to be my friend, they wouldn’t.”

Grandma straightened up, and looked gently at Bobson.  “May I say something?”

Bobson giggled “Of course, Grandma!”

Grandma said, “I was excluded when I was a young person. People heard my accent and had ideas about my culture. Parents idly talked, and their children learned who they were to dislike. I was rejected, not always in words, but in body language, facial expressions, where I was and wasn’t welcome.  Later, when I started life with the smartest person I know, Jesus, I discovered the best friendship ever.  He said, “Live your life with me, learning to do everything I do, we are in this together, I will never leave you alone.  You will have the best life possible.”

”Grandma, you don’t have the best life!” blurted out Bobson.

“Oh, but I do.” Grandma smiled “I get to do life with God who loves me so much, he will never leave me alone. I am fearless, even when shaking in my boots. And after this many years I am much less prone to shakiness.”

“It takes effort, for example, recently I brought fresh buns to a person who was mean to me when I was a child. God went with me and did way more than I could ever have thought.  God’s imagination is bigger than mine. Now this person who once hated me so much, is my friend. It took 71 years before they could stand to be near me.”

Bobson’s eyes grew round, “71 years?”

“What do I do?” asked Bobson.

“You will have to ask God to take away the resentment you have.  Ask him to replace it with bold love. Get to know someone.  Ask them questions. “How was your weekend?” “Hot dogs or hamburgers?” Don’t be a friend for the sake of having friends. Be a friend because you genuinely care about the other person.  You don’t have to be best friends with everyone.  Just be you. Some kids will still reject, it may be ingrained deep.  As a child, I was never accepted by any classmates.  I hope that is not the case for you.”

Grandma attacked a fresh clump of quack grass with vigor. “Bobson, you have me, you always have Jesus. We were made to have good relationships with people, that is normal. As you go through this hard time, don’t pretend to be someone you are not.  Don’t aim to be popular or even liked.  Just be you.  Tell me about it every day.  Tell God about it all day.”

Bobson was pulling out a root.  Triumphantly he retrieved it.  “Four feet Grandma, I have beat your three footer!”

God sees the heart. Talk about God seeing the hearts of the people in this story.

Have you ever said or done something that wasn’t you, just to fit in?

Do you know anyone who has gone through really hard times, but was peaceful and fearless?

Jesus Will Never Leave You Alone

Read Matthew 28:18-20 or the whole thing Matthew chapter 28

We don’t know everything that went on between God and Jesus at the cross. We do know that we are offered life with Jesus, where ultimately, nothing can harm us.   Jesus, before he finally left earth commissioned his students to make more students.  People who live their lives with Jesus learning to be like him, interacting with him. Remarkably different people, easy to spot by the way they love.  He promised his students that they would never ever be alone, now or later. It is true.  People who choose to live their lives with Jesus, receive his spirit, and they have a new kind of life.

What is a disciple? A whole life student of Jesus, learning to be like him, by being with him, yet remaining themselves.

What were some of the things Jesus taught while he was walking on earth? About God’s kingdom, about God’s healing power, God’s love, being joyful, not being worried, about life with God, some people don’t have ears for hearing, being kind, being loving, that there is more to life than what we see, sharing, loving others, all people are important to God, etc.

What is Jesus promise, that he made if we live life with him? He will never leave us alone.

Do you sometimes feel alone?

Do you want to never be alone?  If you want to start life with Jesus you can, just start being with him!

How is God with us all the time? His spirit

When was his spirit made available to people?

Pray and ask Jesus to be with you always in every detail of life.

Pray  for the people closest to you. Your family. Thank God you have family, even if sometimes you don’t agree.
